For a fat bomb this recipe is quite unique as most tend to be sweet. Not everyone can eat low-carb sweeteners and that's why I've created this savoury snack.

How To Make Savory Fat Bombs

These are super simple to make and there is no coating so you'll only need to blend the ingredients. Optionally, you can roll these in fresh herbs such as chives. I used my Kenwood mixer with a food processor attachment. If you don't have a food processor, feel free to just finely chop the salmon and mix it with the remaining ingredients.

How To Serve Savory Fat Bombs

These fat bombs can be served on top of crispy lettuce leaves, or as spread on top of Ultimate Keto Buns, Healthy Low-carb Bagels or Low-carb "Rye" bread. You can also serve these as a dip with keto crackers.

You can also find even more fat bombs here.

I changed the way I ate in 2011, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

That’s when I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and to start following a whole-foods-based ketogenic approach to food.

First time trying  and it's a great snack

Glad you enjoyed! 😊

So I am 13 days in and was seriously about to just call it when I started to feel sick to stomach this morning only to learn yeah finally making it into Keto state. I was told I might feel flu like symptoms but it didn’t register until I talked to a dr friend of mine !! Came home and made these they are awesome!  Sticking it out hoping to start seeing results soon ! I added some crab flake to it to give it more flavor but did not add salt as it tasted salty enough to me already. Is that allowed?

Absolutely, you can use it to taste. I checked the ingredients in crab flakes (is that imitation crab meat?) and there are starches and other ingredients I would personally avoid. If you ever need a keto flu remedy, this works every single time: Beat Keto-Flu with Homemade Electrolyte Drink I hope this helps!

Oh how I love a salmon mousse! And since I learned how to make my own smoked salmon (read no sugar) this is perfect! Now I have to go get more salmon and make a new batch! Thanks so much, Maria!

I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thank you so much for this recipe, I'm about a month into the keto diet and already seeing results. I work out of state during the week and am at home on the weekends. This recipe alone is saving me from those gas station sausages and I can make a big batch of them and eat them throughout the week. I only have a small nuwave bullet mixer so I learned the hard way to chop everything up into small pieces and stagger the ingredients. Salmon, cream cheese, butter x2 then add the lemon juice, dill, and salt on the top. Just wanted to give you props and I look forward to other recipes.

Thank you for your lovely feedback! That sounds like a lot of work I'm glad you like them!

Looks great. I can’t wait to make this. I’ve been mostly paleo/primal since October.  Always looking for new ideas

Hi There- Just starting to go Keto and was thrilled to find this recipe. Love that Green Valley makes a lactose free cream chese, whikch works great with this recipe 😊

This looks fab. Can you use canned salmon? 1 tin is more than 50g. Just don't have any smoked salmon. Thank you. Pete

Yes you can!

I make a salmon mousse simular, with smoked salmon sauteed for a second in butter that has browned green onions and then blend with softened butter and whipped cream...and i'm thinking we can seriously play with this! omg!

I really think you have the best variety of actual tasty recipes. I can't wait for the new improved app for android. I just can not wait! I have been looking for this kind of site for weeks and was not willing to take on Keto until I found your site! Thanks for being you!

can the salmon fat bombs be frozen?

Hi Susan, yes they can. When ready to be used, place them in the fridge to defrost overnight.

I was wondering if anyone has tried coconut oil instead of butter?

I think so, I'm just not sure about the coconut flavour it may give it. Let me know if you try it! 😊

I just made this and it is FANTASTIC!! I didn't have quite enough regular cream cheese, so I added a little chive and onion cream cheese. So, sooo good on top of some Trader Joe's low carb toast! Thanks for the recipe :-D

Thank you Tekesha! 😊

Always associated fat bombs with the sweet ones, but boy do those look good! I love the philly smoked salmon cream cheese, but why buy it when I can make a better tasting and healthier (less preservatives)version!
Going to have to give this one a try, thanks for the recipe!

Thank you Andrew, hope you like them! 😊

I love this! I love savoury and don't do sugar (natural or not) Will definitely share with my readers, thanks!

Thanks so much Celeste!! 😊

Love this, as my son, his wife and myself are on a low carb diet.  Will try this with canned red salmon.  Thanks for your recipe.

Thanks Mary!

I eat something very similar to this recipe as a dip for celery sticks--since I can't do dairy, I replace the cream cheese with mayo, and use bacon grease or lard instead of butter.  Mustard or pico de gallo goes in instead of dill.

Sounds delicious, thanks for the dairy-free tip! 😊

Wow! Thanks so much for this!  I can't wait to try them!  I like a sweet fat bomb every now and then but I really don't have a sweet tooth.  These sound awesome!!

Thank you Brook!! 😊

oh, how awesome, I will make a second batch like that!  celery with some sort of fat is my new snack every day.  Keeps my protein levels in check!  Thanks!

Hope you like them Nettie! 😊

These look really good, I have to find a smoked salmon that isn't smoked with sugar in the ingredients. I will definitely make these up and eat them with great pleasure. It's stuff like this that makes the diet easy.

Thank you Sue!! I know what you mean, half of the products contain added sugar!

Couldn't  you use  cooked salmon? Instead of smoked. They look delish.

Hi Mel, sure! I haven't tried it but I don't see why not 😊

Thanks so much for posting this recipe!!! I don't use any sweeteners not even stevia so this is great for me. I'm planning to try fat fast and will definitely make these :-D

Thanks Monica 😊

Wow!  I'm  definitely more of a savory person.  Thanks for this recipe.  It sounds delicious!

Then you Bonnie!
